SUMMARY:Riverlands 100 & Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Riverlands 100 is a trail race put on by experienced trail runners for people who like to push their limits. Come join us!\nSolo runners will do 4 laps of a beautiful 25-mile out-and-back trail at the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park in Turner\, ME. The course is a little over half ATV trail that has a little of everything: river views of the Androscoggin (listen for loons!)\, dense forest\, ups and downs\, rocks and roots and hopefully some good mud. The rest is sweet single track\, the best Maine offers. There is not much flat\, but it has the potential to be a fast 100 for experienced ultra runners and a challenging 100 for first-timers. \nThinking of making it a party? \nWe will also be offering a 100 mile relay for teams of 5.  The relay course will be 5 laps of a 20 mile out and back course which is slightly different than the solo 100 mile course. Each relay runner must complete at least one 20-mile lap. The relay teams are on the ATV trail for 80% of their 20 mile leg\, with 20% single track. We have had some 4 person teams where one runner did two legs. This works\, too!

SUMMARY:100 Mile Wilderness Sled Dog Race
DESCRIPTION:NEW for 2022\nSkijoring\n4 dogs Sprint race\nOn February 5th 2022 the Wilderness Sled Dog Races will draw mushers\, canine athletes and spectators to the snow-covered trails of the Moosehead Lake region. \nThe 70 mile race and the 30 mile race will have two purses to be divided among the finishers.  Mushers will go out in the order that they signed up in 3 minute intervals starting at 9:00 a.m. Spectators should plan on getting to Leisure Life Resort by 8:30 a.m. to see the excited teams preparing for the start! \nIn addition to the races fun activities for spectators and families are scheduled throughout the day. They will include educational exhibits\, programs to be announced soon and a bonfire to welcome in the racers. Trailside restaurant at Leisure Life Resort is open for breakfast\, lunch and dinner all day where spectators can enjoy great food in a warm friendly atmosphere with a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. \nStart time for the 70-mile race is 9 a.m. and the 30-mile begins at 10:00 a.m. Spectators line the starting chute to witness the intense excitement of the dog teams eager to run and to cheer each team on their way! The long race trail heads north into the mountainous 100-Mile Wilderness region on AMC property and passes near several of their remote sporting camps\, providing vantage points for those who want to watch the race’s progress. The teams can be seen traveling along the trail at the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club house on Scammon Rd. as well as at West Branch Pond Camps on the Frenchtown Rd. \nAbout The Race\nThe Wilderness Sled Dog Race\, now in its X year\, is known for its remote terrain\, beautiful scenery and enthusiastic community support. Focus is placed on the health and well-being of the canine athletes who\, with their human partners of course\,  travel throughout the northeast and Canada to compete in this highly popular event. Race Veterinarian\, Dr. Rick DuBois\, DVM of Greenville Veterinary Clinic\, ensures that each four legged athlete is up to the task of traversing the race trail before the race\, out on the trail and at the finish line. The Wilderness Race has a perfect record when it comes to the health and well-being of every dog who has ever participated! \nSpectator Viewing\nIn addition to the race start and finish lines in Greenville\, the Wilderness Race is unique in that it offers fans the opportunity to view the race teams out on the trail as they head to the Northern most checkpoint and return to Greenville. Teams can be seen as they head towards Hedgehog gate by traveling out the Greenville Road to the AMC parking area\, for those staying at AMC’s Little Lyford Lodge they can ski out to the race trail to view teams passing by\, spectators can also drive north on the Lily Bay Road (toward Kokadjo) turning off on the Frenchtown Road\, take this for 12 miles to the 70 mile race safety checkpoint at West Branch Pond Camps. Eric Stirling and his crew will be catering to spectators as the race teams travel through these remote camps. The teams travel back on the same course and so the viewing spots would be the same with the addition of spotting teams as they cross Scammon Rd at the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club house on the return trip. \nContact us wildernesssleddograce@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Save Your Breath 5K Run/Walk
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\nPLACE\n31 Union Street\nAugusta\, ME US 04347\n\n\n\n\nDESCRIPTION\n\n\nWe are proceeding with a live event this year\, however\, things may change should covid19 continue to be a threat to the community.  We have included a virtual run for those who would rather run their race their way or cannot travel to Augusta to participate in the live timed event. \nWe need your support more than ever.  Covid19 has swept across the United States closing businesses\, disrupting the health and safety of our community.  Lung cancer patients are at greater risk\, as the disease attacks the lungs. \nAwards ceremony will be held at Bateau Brewing in Gardiner immediately after the race.  All winners must be present at Bateau Brewing to receive their prize.  This event is a fundraiser to help support Free ME from Lung Cancer’s mission ~ research\, help uninsured high risk patients get access to early detection via low dose CT scans\, help single family low income homeowners get access to radon air abatement systems and to help covid19 relief funds in Maine hospitals to help keet the high risk patients and front line workers safe.    Please consider making an extra donation when you register or set up a fundraising page so that your family\, friends and coworkers can support your run.  Those raising $100.00 or more will get a free registration.  Those raising $100 or more will receive a token to use when registering. This is one of two events that support our foundation’s programs. On-line donations are processed at 6%.  This supports RunSignUp web portal. \nWith last year’s money we issued two grants for covid relief funds to area hospitals\, provided 250 lung cancer care bags\, set aside $15000 for our radon abatement program and $12000 for our early lung cancer screening program.  We are also working with the Dana Farber Cancer Insitute to fund a $100\,000 research grant per year for two years to support a fellow researcher.  We couldn’t do all this work without your support. \nWe are all looking forward to seeing you all down at the finish line on November 6th.
