ALL the funds donated will go directly to food insecure families in Bath\, W. Bath\, Woolwich\, Phippsburg\, Arrowsic\, and Georgetown.  Please send questions to our director\, Kimberly Gates at  kfgates@gwi.net.

SUMMARY:The Virtual Maine Marathon\, Half Marathon and Relay
DESCRIPTION:Run with us virtually from Saturday\, September 26 through Monday\, October 12\nDue to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic\, the 2020 Gorham Savings Bank Maine Marathon\, Half Marathon\, and Relay\, originally scheduled for Sunday\, October 4\, will take place virtually over two weeks. Title sponsor Gorham Savings Bank will cover all virtual race costs incurred so that every virtual entry fee dollar can be donated to nonprofit race beneficiaries.\nVirtual Race\nThe distance can be run in any location you choose\, including the Maine Marathon course\, from Saturday\, September 26 through Monday\, October 12. Virtual participants will get a medal and shirt mailed to them after they complete the event.\nResults will be compiled\, but there will be no awards or cash prizes.\nRegistration is now open for all of our virtual races: marathon\, half marathon\, relay and new 5K and 10K options. The fee is $30/runner through August 31\, 2020. The fee will increase to $35/runner on September 1. Anyone who has not signed up can register here.\nHow and when can I run?\nComplete your virtual race anytime from Saturday\, September 26 through Monday\, October 12. Participants will have two options:\nUse RaceJoy\, and have your time recorded automatically.\nManually record your time\, and then submit your time.\nYou can run anywhere!\nWe plan to have course markings to indicate miles and turns on the course\, we’ll let you know more details when they are available.\nUse RaceJoy\nParticipants who want to use RaceJoy will need to download the RaceJoy App which is available for Apple and Android devices. Then carry your phone during the virtual race and activate the app when you start.\nRaceJoy can be used both on the actual race course or if you’re completing the distance at a different location.\nThis video is a RaceJoy tutorial\nManual submission\nOr\, manually record your time\, and then submit your time. Note: the Submit Virtual Results button won’t be active until 9/26.\nParticipants can also indicate that they’ve completed one of the virtual events but not submit a time.\nRegistered runners\nIf you’ve already registered for the marathon\, half-marathon\, or relay\, you have three options. We ask that entrants choose from these options by Tuesday\, Aug. 4\, 2020.\n1. Convert your registration to virtual\nParticipants who are already registered may request that their entry be switched to one of the virtual options Note: these requests will be processed manually\, and you won’t see your new entry status until early August.\nOnce your request to switch to the virtual race has been processed\, you’ll be able to go online and edit your registration — to change your virtual distance and indicate whether or not you plan to use the actual race course. Those who switch to a virtual event can choose any of the virtual distances\, regardless of which event you initially registered for.\nDuring this process\, you will also be asked if want to donate the difference to charity (for the difference between your original entry fee and the new reduced virtual race fee) or whether you’d like a partial refund.\n2. Cancel your registration\nYou also have the option of canceling your race registration. If you choose to do that\, you may donate your entry fee to charity or request a full refund.\n3. Defer until 2021\nIf you do nothing\, by default\, your registration will be deferred until 2021.\nHow does the relay work?\nRelay teams will have the option of using the actual race course\, or running wherever they choose. For relay teams\, though\, the RaceJoy app will only work if you’re on the race course. Teams that run elsewhere (or choose not to use RaceJoy) will need to manually record their times and submit them. Note: the Submit Virtual Results button won’t be active until 9/26.\nTeam members do not have to complete their individual legs on the same day\, or in a specific order. The times for each leg will be added together to produce the team’s final result.

SUMMARY:Trail to Prevail Virtual 10K Event
DESCRIPTION:Participants of all ages and abilities welcome!\nPortland Trails presents Trail to Prevail: a virtual 10K event to celebrate the prevailing spirit of our community!\nPortland Trails is a nonprofit urban land trust that maintains a network of over 70 miles of trails in Greater Portland. For many\, these trails have been an important space for physical and mental wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year\, Portland Trails is replacing its annual Trail to Ale 10K race with the Trail to Prevail\, a virtual 10K community event that celebrates wellness\, trails\, and community resilience. Participants are invited to design their own 10K route on the trails and walk\, run\, bike\, or roll to raise funds for Portland Trails. The Trail to Prevail will be held from September 20th through 26th. All ages and abilities are welcome! Every participant will receive a free Trail to Prevail buff\, and anyone who fundraises or donates $100 or above will also receive a free Trail to Prevail t-shirt. Register: https://runsignup.com/trailtoprevail\nHow it works:\nDesign your own route on the trails and walk\, run\, bike\, rollerblade\, unicycle\, roll\, skip\, dance – whatever you’d like! – for 10 kilometers to raise funds for Portland Trails. All ages and abilities are welcome. Even if you won’t be in the Greater Portland area for the event\, celebrate with us from afar by participating on the trails closest to you. Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos of their 10Ks on social media. As a thank you for your participation\, you’ll receive a free Trail to Prevail buff (that doubles as a face covering!) in the mail.\nFundraising:\nAlso new this year\, participants will have the opportunity to fundraise for Portland Trails! 2020 has been\, and continues to be\, a difficult year for all of us. Because the trails have seen such a sharp increase in visitors this year\, we have had to allocate a significant amount of time and resources to trail maintenance. Additionally\, without our usual fundraisers and corporate sponsorships\, 2020 will be a challenging financial year for Portland Trails\, too. If you want to support our year-round trail work\, active transportation advocacy\, and community-building projects beyond your registration\, you will have the option to create a fundraising page that you can share with your family and friends. If you raise at least $100\, you will receive a free\, limited edition Trail to Prevail t-shirt! Our top six fundraisers will also receive a prize package from local shops\, restaurants\, and breweries.\nIf you’re participating with a team\, you can also fundraise as a team! Team members will receive t-shirts if\, collectively\, the group raises at least $100 per team member. (For example\, once a team of 4 raises $400\, each team member will receive a t-shirt.) Our top three fundraising groups will receive a prize package from local shops\, restaurants\, and breweries for each of your group members.\nEvent details:\nThe Trail to Prevail event will be held for a week beginning Sunday\, September 20th and ending Saturday\, September 26th. Our intention is that participants will have plenty of time to complete their 10K without overcrowding our trails. All funds raised will directly support the Portland Trails network and our work in the Greater Portland community.\nAges 14 and up: $20\nAges 6-13: $10\nAges 5 and under: free
