Please click HERE to make a donation to help cover our race expenses.\nDON’T RUN MILLINOCKET FOR WHAT YOU GET; RUN MILLINOCKET FOR WHAT YOU GIVE!\nThis USATF certified FREE race was first held in 2015 to help Maine’s most prominent mill town\, which was devastated by the closing of their major employer. SUMMARY:Megunticook Trail Festival
DESCRIPTION:Three Bold Trail Races in Camden\, Maine\nThe Wicked Tough 10 is a 10K race that will test even the most accomplished runner on step singletrack with 1600 feet of vertical gain. The new Halfast 20k takes place mainly on wide gravel trail\, a great introductory race for those new to trail running or for experienced racers who want to test their speed. The Megunticook 50 is a 50K that is formidable and will traverse over 90% of the trails in the park. All afford a great and intimate taste of this unique area of the country. \nMegunticook 50  7:00 AM\nBrutal. Beautiful. Two words that only begin to describe this event in the remote Midcoast area of Maine. It traverses over 90% of the trails of this gem with a minimum of overlap. The views along the course are stunning and even the speedy “contenders” will be tempted to stop and take them in. It’s not a race for the faint of heart. There are over 7600’ of elevation gain and the trails are steep with lots of rocks and roots. If you’re not going up or down\, you’re probably off course. The cutoff time may seem generous at 11 hours\, but this course will beat you up physically and mentally. And while it doesn’t have the 3000’ climbs of some of the races in the West\, it has more overall vertical than most of those and would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any of them for the level of difficulty. It’s not a circuit run multiple times and there are only 3 out-and-backs of 1.7 miles\, .15 mile and .5 mile. There are 6 aid stations\, one of which you hit twice for a total of 6. You’ll top all 6 of the significant peaks in the park (Battie\, Bald Rock\, Derry\, Frohock\, Cameron and Megunticook)\, experience numerous lookouts and cross an abundance of brooks and streams along the way. \nHalfast 20K  8:00 AM\nNew this year\, the rebel Halfast 20k without as many rocks\, roots and summits\, is very different from our other races. A great option for someone wanting to dip their toes into the world of trail running for the first time. Alternatively\, it’s a great course for a runner who wants to test their speed on a faster 20k course. Mainly on wide gravel trail\, only 3.9km of this course are single track. The only summit on this course is Cameron Mountain where to the east you’ll get a view past Bald Rock Mountain to the ocean and to the west you’ll be overlooking Megunticook Lake. You’ll mostly be running on the Multi Use trail which starts as a steep ascent out of the campground and traverses to park all the way to Lincolnville. Here you’ll turn around heading a mile back the way you came before changing course and heading out to Cameron Mountain. The multi use trail is wide and (mostly smooth) but it is not flat. Beside a few short stretches you will either be heading up or down hill. The elevation gain for the whole course is 1\,900 feet. There are 2 aid stations\, one of which you’ll pass twice for a total of 3. \nWicked Tough 10  8:30 AM\nWhile not an ultramarathon\, this 10K is no piece of cake. The views from Battie and the shoulder of Megunticook are stunning and will come at a time when runners will be very inclined to take a short break to enjoy them. With over 1600’ of elevation gain\, this course will test even the most accomplished runner. The majority of the course is on trails through the beautiful woods. But twice\, you’ll break out onto open ledge and have stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal areas from Acadia to Tenant’s Harbor. This signals the end to an arduous climb and the beginning of a much-appreciated downhill section. But make sure you have your “trail eyes” well trained lest a rock or root grab your foot. Whether a competitive runner wishing to test him/herself against one of the toughest courses around or a fast-walker more interested in exploring the mountains of Mid-Coast Maine\, you will find what you’re looking for in the Wicked Tough Ten. \nSIGN UP HERE

SUMMARY:Firebird Trail Races
DESCRIPTION:Firebird Trail Race is a challenging and wicked fun trail race with distance options of 13M\, 50K & (new this year) 50M\, that runs on donations\, positive vibes\, and a crushingly technical course in Falmouth\, Maine. \nOur goal is to celebrate the amazing runners community and accomplish great feats together\, cheering each other to the finish\, for the first time or the millionth time. Unlike other races\, to compete here you must donate to a non-profit of your choice in addition to paying the low cost registration fee. Instead of some mega race conglomerate taking the profits\, we ask that you pay it forward and contribute to a non-profit that aligns with your values. The donation must be made between September 4\, 2022 and August 25\, 2023\, and we must have proof of the donation (a receipt\, confirmation letter from the recipient\, image of your check) by August 25\, 2023 in order to confirm entry. Donations must be at least $20. Participants donated in excess of $7\,000 in 2022\, which is nothing short of astounding!

With 22 miles currently off road\, our goal is to raise awareness and funds to continue John’s vision of filling in the gaps and adding more miles to the off-road trail sections. \nRegistration fee is $25 per person\, $30 day of race.

SUMMARY:Bold Coast Runners - Cobscook Backyard Ultra
DESCRIPTION:The Bold Coast Runners are  a welcoming\, encouraging and supportive group of crazy people who run the roads and trails of way Downeast Maine\, the Canadian Borderlands\, and beyond.  We welcome everyone\, from beginners to old-timers and from tortoises to hares.  We run distances ranging from 1 mile to 50 miles and on anything from smooth tar to rugged single track.  If it’s hot: we run\, if it rains: we run\, if it’s snowy: we run in snowshoes\, if icy: in spikes.  We just run\, mostly for fun\, but some of us are also competitive! \nCobscook Backyard Ultra – 50K or 50 miles.   \n* Important Note regarding the date: the park will be contracting for some significant work removing damaged and dangerous trees. It is possible this work will be ongoing on 23 April.  If it is the event may be cancelled or postponed at short notice. \nThe Event:  Come and run an easy 5 Km or 4.167 mile (6.706 Km) loops – just a stroll in the Park!  If you want to spend Sunday 23 April in the beautiful Cobscook Bay State Park running and walking your first\, or a different kind of\, 50 Km or 50 mile Ultra with a great group of people\, then why not sign up and join the fun? Or bring 1 or more friends and split the distance between you as a team entry. \nIf you can run/walk 3.1 miles in 1 hour then do it again next hour\, and then again for 10 laps/hours in total\, then you can finish a 50K in 10 hours. Or if you don’t think you can do it all alone\, find a friend or two and divide it up as a Relay Team of 2 or 3\, just so long as one team member completes each lap. \nOr run/walk 4.167 miles each hour over and over again for 12 laps/hours in total for a 50 miler.  Again\, do it as an individual or as a Relay Team of 2 or 3\, just so long as one member completes each lap. \nThe course is on vehicle free park gravel roads and will be well marked with arrows at every intersection. The 4.167 mile loop will overlap with the 5K loop for the most part with an additional 0.57 Km out and back to make up the difference.  Course Map 50k click here – Course Map 50mi Click here \nWe’ll follow modified Backyard Ultra protocols – starting at 9am 50 Km runners will do one 5 Km loop\, then do the 5K loop again at 10:00am\, then again at 11:00am etc. through to starting the last lap at 6:00pm for 10 x 5K = 50K. When you finish a lap you’ll likely have time to spare before the next one starts\, so take a break\, grab a drink/grub and wait for the next hour to come round. We will have a 5 minute warning bell before the start of the next lap. If you are not on the start line on the hour\, because you haven’t finished the last lap or you’ve fallen asleep or whatever\, then you are finished at however many loops you have completed.  The event ends after 10 hours so the furthest you can go is 50kms. \n50 mile runners will start earlier\, at 7:00am and do a 4.167 mile loop\, then do it again at 8:00am\, etc. as with the 50 K runners – every hour and starting the last lap at 6:00pm alongside the last lap for the 50 K runners. \nTeams – in addition to individuals we will allow teams of 2 or 3 runners to compete.  So long as one of your runners is on the start line on the hour\, and completes the loop\, your team can continue.  This means you can participate without having to run all 10 laps\, or even if you need to run off to do something else for a couple of hours.  It’s up to you to organize your team. \nNote: if there is competition for places we will give first priority to individual runners\, second to 2 person teams\, and lastly to 3 person teams – so yeah\, we’re encouraging you to think big and ambitous – get out of your comfort zones! \nTiming:  We’ll have a clock and a timing sheet on-site – write down your own loop times. \nNot quite a Fatass style event – while largely a Fatass style event – no aid stations\, no support\, no medals or awards\, just satisfaction for you (or your team) in completing the distance and a great sense of camaraderie as we all push ourselves\, we do ask for a non-refundable donation of $10 to cover park entrance fees and some of our other basic costs. \nYou should Bring your own supplies\, canopy\, chairs\, etc. be prepared for the weather conditions.   Also\, please consider bringing something to share – we’ll put out a shelter and table for this.  There are multiple outhouses along the course but no running water or showers. \nBecause the park is closed to vehicles until 15 May you will have to park outside the park gate on South Edmunds Road and carry your stuff from there to the Start/Finish area where we’ll all set up – it’s about 300 metres. You can bring a cart or wheelbarrow. Please do NOT block the park entrance.
